NMR
All day long. Literally. 1 host (for now), 18 guests, 7 concentrations done in triplicate. Makes for a total of 378 NMR. It's really just the same procedure done repeatedly though. And if the guest doesn't bind, even at 100x or 1000x Kd, I obviously don't have to do the entire experiment. But NMRs pretty basic; it's all automated here. Awkward when you realize you're using all of the spinners though. Going to take a break and let my previous batch finish (42 spectra!) before doing the next. Works out well too, since p-toluidine and 1,2-phenylenediamine are running, and we have data from a different paper to compare too, though our CB[6] contains "acid of crystallization" which seems to be throwing the peaks off a bit.
In any case, lots of mixing solutions! Might have time for one more host-guest experiment before I head out for the day, though I'll need more buffer. Hope the D2O comes in soon...
This also makes me sort of excited for ITC, if only to get away from doing NMR (I'm positive it's going to get annoying after a while...).
